California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, License #163341

Hi, I’m Sheila. And I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m a licensed psychotherapist and a certified perinatal mental health practitioner, and I created Laya Women’s Therapy because this work is rooted in the kind of thoughtful, attuned care I believe women deserve, but too often do not receive.

Having spent years working in highly demanding business environments and in mental health supporting women, I understand the kind of pressure often placed on women, particularly around life transitions. My own lived experiences navigating infertility, birth trauma, postpartum anxiety, and motherhood, along with the identity/careers shifts and relational strain that can come with it all, deepened my understanding of just how emotionally layered these seasons can feel. And how much of a difference it can make to be supported through them.

My approach to therapy is warm, relational, and insight-oriented. I recognize that no one story is the same, so our work together will be shaped by your specific needs, your lived experience, and what feels most supportive for your growth. I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies, including psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approaches. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which can help heal experiences that feel unresolved, painful, or difficult to move through.

Laya Women’s Therapy offers a space where the weight you are carrying is met with compassion, understanding, and meaningful support.
